Why the Crocodile Tears (by Flower Sock) novel Chapter 269

Anathea’s warm breath fell on Gregory’s face, carrying her unique scent. For a moment, Gregory was dazed. His long lashes fluttered slightly as he stared fixedly at Anathea, who was just inches away.

As if afraid of hurting him further, Anathea applied the medicine gently, blowing on the wound a few more times.

She was behaving exactly like a loving and considerate wife. It was as though the Anathea from the past had returned. Gregory’s heart stirred uncontrollably.

He lifted a hand and held her wrist.

Anathea looked up at him. Her eyes were incredibly alluring, enough to make someone lose themselves.

As Gregory was faced with the tender version of Anathea, his Adams apple bobbed slightly. As expected, he had no intention of holding backhe’d already been holding back for too many days.

His other hand cupped her chin as he leaned down.

The crisp seent of cedar filled Anathea’s nose.

Her hand clenched into a fist, bending the swab in half. Her heart was filled with resistance, but she didn’t push him away.

Instead, she closed her eyes and responded ever so faintly.

That reaction was an enormous encouragement to Gregory. His brows relaxed, and things quickly spiraled out of control.

Outside the Maybach, tall birch trees lined the road. Sunlight filtered through the leaves and spilled into the car. With the car moving nonstop, the inside of the car kept shifting from bright to dim as the air gradually changed from gentle to urgent and

intense.

It wasn’t until Anathea was almost out of breathwith a flushed facethat she weakly tapped his arm.

Gregory let go of her reluctantly, pressing his forehead to hers as he spoke in a deep, magnetic voice. Annie, your lips are so sweet it’s addictive.

Anathea didn’t respond. She snapped the bent cotton swab in her hand in two, curling her fingers around the broken pieces.

Gregory didn’t notice the subtle move and was about to kiss her again.

Anathea bit her lip, turning her head away. Dexter’s here.

Hearing that, Gregory shot a sharp look toward Dexter.

Dexter immediately stiffened, wishing he were not here.

I got off work early today. Let’s stop by the grocery store. I’ll make you dinner. How does that sound?

Gregory’s eyes lit up, though he was uncertain. Youmean it?

Ever since Anathea had returned from Syntherra, he’d failed to get her attention and been rejected more than once. Hence, he found it hard to believe it when he saw her behaving like this willingly.

Gregory stared at Anathea intensely.

Anathea casually tossed the broken cotton swab into a trash bag and smiled. How does tomatobraised veal and vegetables sound?

Anything’s fine. I’ll eat whatever you make,Gregory replied warmly, pleased.

Eating food Anathea cooked with her own hands made him happier than closing a ninefigure business deal.

Besides, he realized he’d never gone grocery shopping with Anathea before. This would be a new experience.
