Chapter 327
“You don’t understand. Kids often take after their grandparents. Just look at Gregory. He looks just like Mr. Sinclair Senior. It’s as if they were carved from the same mold.”
“True! They look so alike!”
Because of the “happy news,” the banquet ended on a relatively relaxed note.
Afraid of eating something else that would upset her stomach, Anathea only took a few sips of the nutritious soup.
The taste was quite similar to the one she had at home. Brisa had most likely also given some to Eleanor.
Theo kept his eyes on Anathea, then glanced at Gregory, who was being attentive and considerate toward her. He slowly curled his fingers into fists.
He stood up abruptly, his chair making a sharp noise as it was pushed back.
Gregory noticed him from the corner of his eye but didn’t react. He turned to Anathea and said gently, “I’ll get you some more candied lemon peel.”
Anathea nodded slightly.
Gregory stood up and walked away in large strides.
Just as he rounded a corner in the hallway, Theo suddenly appeared and grabbed him by the collar, shoving him against the wall. “Gregory, you’re despicable!”
Meeting Theo’s fiery glare, Gregory shrugged. “What are you talking about? I don’t understand.”
“Cut the act! Anathea is 13 weeks pregnant. Did you use the baby to trap her with you?”
“You’re overthinking it. If she’s really staying because of the baby, she wouldn’t have gone to Syntherra,” Gregory said with a
blank face.
Theo paused. That was true. Judging by the timing, Anathea must’ve been pregnant when she left for Syntherra. But if she’d left with the baby, why would she come back to Castenea and even go back to being Gregory’s wife?
“Did you blackmail her with something?” Theo questioned.
“None of your business.” Gregory swatted Theo’s hand away without the slightest courtesy, his tone leaving no room for
argument.
“Whatever the reason is, she’s with me now, and she’s my wife. That’s undeniable. As you heard, this coming spring, we’re going to have a lovely child. I’d advise you to quit your scheming.”
“Heh, you should be telling that to yourself!”
Theo locked eyes with him, as if trying to strip away all his pretenses. “You normally keep your cool in front of Uncle Holden. Yet, this time, you picked a fight with him right in front of Mr. Sinclair Senior. You’d be lying if you said vasn’t on purpose!
“The fact that Anathea didn’t mention her pregnancy at all until now just proves she never wanted to. You brought her here on purpose and acted like someone who was willing to defy his elders for her.
“But it was all planned. You forced her into a corner and made her admit she’s pregnant with your child. You made it harder for her to leave just to satisfy your twisted need to possess her!”
Gregory fell silent, a hint of darkness flickering in his eyes.
“What, got nothing to say now? I got it right, didn’t I?” Theo folded his arms and glared at Gregory.
