Why the Crocodile Tears (by Flower Sock) novel Chapter 328

Chapter 328

After Gregory had left the table, Anathea’s eyes fell on the box of candied lemon peel on the table. It had delicate carvings on its

surface.

Suddenly, she realized that it had been a long time since she last saw Brisa.

Brisa had always treated her well, as if Anathea were her real granddaughter. Yet, Anathea had left without a word. She felt guilty about that. Now that she was at the Sinclair residence, she figured it was only right to go visit Brisa.

So, she picked up the box and followed the direction Gregory had gone in.

But as soon as she stepped out of the corridor, even before she turned the corner, she heard two people arguing.

It was Gregory and Theo.

You normally keep your cool in front of Uncle Holden. Yet, this time, you picked a fight with him right in front of Mr. Sinclair Senior. You’d be lying if you said this wasn’t on purpose!

Anathea froze in place, her steps halting as though concrete had been poured over her feet.

She just stood there, silently listening as they fought over her like she was some kind of object.

Whether I love her or not is none of your damn business! She’s mine now! If you really want her, then wait until I’m done with her!

Gregory’s harsh words replayed in her mind over and over.

So, when he said he would try to love her, it was just because he didn’t know how to love someone at all. He only wanted to use her to prove he could be like everyone else.

When he said she belonged to him, he really just saw her as his possession.

Telling Theo to wait until he was done with Anathea was the same thing as tossing her aside when she was of no use to him anymore.

All those sweet words he’d said before were nothing but things said on a whim. He’d just been passing time.

Anathea suddenly felt weak. The box in her hand slipped and fell to the ground loudly.

The sound cut off the men’s argument.

Theo saw her first. His expression held surprise, as well as pity and distress.

Gregory turned around a moment later. His face instantly went pale.

Anathea saw the panic and helplessness in his eyes. She wondered why he was panicking. She’d already announced her pregnancy in front of the Sinclair family, just as he’d wanted.

She hadn’t wanted to say it. But deep down, she didn’t want to owe him too much. She didn’t want him to fall out with his family

because of her.

He’d treated her well lately. So, for once, she’d softened. She’d thought about him, just once.

She’d never imagined it was all just a part of Gregory’s plan. He wanted to use the baby to tie her down, to satisfy his absurd desire to possess her.

He wanted

She didn’t want to think about what else he wanted.

She was just relieved and thankful that she hadn’t let herself softer again. Even though she’s wavered, he’d slapped her back to reality before she could go too far.

It didn’t hurt much. Maybe because she’d become numb enough that she couldn’t even feel heartbreak anymore. Their eyes met. Gregory’s were filled with too many complicated emotions. His voice trembled slightly as he mumbled, Annie

Anathea didn’t respond, shattering the last shred of hope in Gregory’s eyes. His gaze completely dimmed.
