Chapter 1839
Jim furrowed his brows as he glanced at Charlotte. “Haven’t you always hated mutton?”
He remembered as clear as day that this was why Number-9 and Number-12 became close friends. Number-9 hated mutton, but unfortunately for her, the orphanage served it for their meals quite often, which was why she became friends with Number-12, who loved mutton and was willing to give out her vegetables and bread in exchange for mutton.
At that time, Jim had puzzled over this and even asked Number-9 why she was willing to give out her meat in exchange for vegetables and bread. It was clear to anyone that this was not a fair trade at all.
However, at that time, she had told him with a smile that since she did not need it, she was willing to sacrifice herself and give it to someone else who needed it more than her.
As soon as he grew up, he returned to the same orphanage to bring this girl home, but…
Why did Charlotte suddenly grow to love the food she used to hate, whereas Roanne was the opposite?
“People’s tastes change.” Charlotte lowered her head and sighed as she started eating. “Six years ago, both Roanne and I were tricked by Heather and locked in a warehouse where she set fire to both of us.
“Even though we managed to survive it…both our tastes and habits have changed as a result of that trauma.”
With that, Charlotte sniffed and added in a choking voice, “I don’t want to recall those traumatic memories.
“If Heather hadn’t died, neither I nor Roanne would even dare to return to Merchant City.
“If she were still alive, we know that we’d fall prey to her deceiving ways once more as soon as we return.”
Tears slid down Charlotte’s face as she continued, “However, I never thought that…Aunty Rosalyn would give Heather the keys to her warehouse and allow her access to all her drugs…
“If Heather hadn’t used the drugs in the warehouse on you and caused you to lose your memory…you wouldn’t have ended up like this…”

The readers' comments on the novel: Will you marry me, My Ex-Wife (Luna and Joshua)
Luna is sooo stupid!...
This story line is sickening… her children, Nellie in particular, do not like Malcolm. She is already married to Joshua, the father of her children who loves her more than Malcolm ever could. Just disgusting....
Another “misunderstanding”…… poor Luna, why can’t she just say the Quinns kidnapped me instead of assuming Joshua is doing the wrong thing. Terrible....
I sure hope Aura gets arrested and pays for her many crimes soon, along with Adrian and Michael. Joshua and Luna need peace with their children....
Joshua is stupid, he says he loves Luna but refuses to tell her the truth thinking he can never recover from all the deceit, if he told the truth he could redeem himself and live a happy life with his family rather than continue to protect a bunch of evil criminals. Terrible decisions by a man who is smart enough to run a multi faceted company....
Omg this author is twisted!! When does Luna catch a break! This is awful. Aurasnd Fiona are evil, evil women and are using the children to commit their crimes 🤬...
And now the author has made it sound like he cares more for Fiona who he has only known a couple of weeks than Luna, his wife, the love of his life. Stupid and pathetically disgusting....
Wow, making Joshua out to be so stupid, ugh. Yes he told this horrible bitch he would accompany her until she died, but she lied about her fake illness so I guess he’ll have to live with her forever! He also promised to love, honor and cherish his wife Luna however seems to forget that with each passing malicious mistress, Aura, Alice and now Fiona. Awful. Let’s get past this into some storyline that involves some happiness for Luna… the only woman who truly cares for and loves him. Get rid of Fiona, soon....
So disgusted with this Fiona storyline, hope it doesn’t last much longer. Joshua told her when they made the deal he had someone in his heart and would not sleep with her. They could be faking a relationship and he doesn’t have to be so nasty to Luna and the kids. It’s heartbreaking and giving him another ridiculous relationship is unnecessary. Just makes more misunderstandings for Luna and harder for her to forgive him....
Joshua is in the wrong, even if Fiona asked him to keep their fake relationship a secret he should have told Luna what was going on. After all, supposedly he lives Luna and the children and is doing this for them. Being deceiving is not working for him....
