Chapter 468 Trying to Win Me Over
Charlotte looked at Pete with a blank expression.
She thought, "Don't think you can just talk your way out of this!"
In the end, Pete relented, laughing as he shook his head. He said, "Alright, let's see if you have time tomorrow. If you do, would you mind coming with me to check it out?"
He softened his tone, looking at her with a gentle gaze.
Charlotte replied, "We'll talk tomorrow."
Pete smiled and took a small box out of his pocket, handing it to her. "This is a gift for Julius, just a little carved trinket. I'm sure kids would like it."
Charlotte was surprised but quickly shook her head. "You don't have to give a gift. Please, don't be so polite."
"You're the one being polite here," Pete replied, placing the box on the console table. "What's wrong with a senior giving a gift to a junior? And I'm telling you, this gift is for Julius. You're not allowed to keep it."
With that, he turned and left.
Charlotte was speechless.
She couldn't help but feel helpless. Turning around, she called for Julius and added, "Say thank you to Mr. Helberg."
"Thank you, Mr. Helberg," Julius obediently said.
Pete had already entered the elevator, waving at them as the doors closed.
After closing the door, Charlotte opened the box and found a delicate jade pendant inside. The surface was smooth and lustrous, and there were intricate patterns on the surface. It looked exquisite.
A hint of surprise crossed Charlotte's face, and she picked it up. "Try wearing it."
Julius's eyes brightened when he saw the pendant. It was indeed beautiful!
"It's nice." Charlotte nodded in approval.
Julius held the pendant in his hand for a moment, then said, "Mom, he's trying to win me over."
"How could that be?" Charlotte denied his words. "He's just giving you a gift."
