She smiled faintly, “Mommy is not working today, I’ll stay home with you.”
“Yay!” a carefree smile appeared on Little Nomi’s face.
Monique stayed home with Little Nomi for the rest of the day. She seldom had so much free time to herself. The Moore manor was huge, and there was a man-made hill at the back of the manor. There was a fountain and a small forest, with some exercising machines which entertained the two of them. Mrs. Lee was taking good care of them. She would frequently bring over some drinks, fruits and snacks.
The other staff treated them with respect, too. Although they did not know who Monique was, they knew that Henry and Mrs. Lee were taking good care of them, so they assumed this mysterious woman to be someone special, probably someone of the noble family or with authority.
By the end of the day, Henry was still not home, so Monique and Little Nomi went to bed without seeing him for a day.
They had not seen him for two days in a row. He usually left before they woke, and came home after they had slept.
Was he avoiding her? Or was he mad at her for the other night?
Impossible! She was just a chauffeur paying her debts! Perhaps he was just busy with work.
At night, she looked out the window, her legs were numb from standing but there was not one passing car. She just wanted to tell him that she had already recovered, that she could drive him again. Monique was tired from waiting, she sat on the bed, and picked up a book by the side and started reading.
