Monique joyfully came down from the car when she reached home. She was holding a cup of coffee in one hand and a tiny cake in the other.
Angel was playing in the courtyard as Mrs. Lawson kept her company.
She happily ran over when she saw Monique arrive. She raised her rosy face and pink lips up at her mom and said, “Mommy.”
Monique nodded. She raised her slender arm, and excitedly answered, “Look what mommy brought for you!”
“A cake from my favourite shop!” Angel shouted in surprise. “Mommy, muah!”
Angel blew her a kiss. She pointed the cup in Monique’s other hand and thought that it was also for her. “What about this?”
“This is coffee! Not for you.” The corner of Monique’s lips raised shyly as her face unknowingly blushed.
Mrs. Lawson was smiling the whole time and did not speak a word as she watched them.
Monique raised her eyes and saw Mrs. Lawson smiling. She asked softly and awkwardly, “Where’s Chairman Moore?”
“The Young Master asked the driver to send Angel home first. He has not come home yet, but should be back later,” said Mrs. Lawson in her warm smile.
“Oh, I see!” Monique looked at the coffee in her hand with her beautiful eyes. She felt slightly disappointed.
Henry had not come home even when Monique brought Angel upstairs to sleep.
“Mommy, what are you thinking?” Angel asked Monique.
Mommy was truly distracted that day. She was taken away after reading the book for a short while.
