Was this the reason why so many women wanted to sleep with Henry Moore? To be the center of attention?
Monique felt that the gaze she received stemmed from jealousy rather than admiration. There were also all kinds of weird looks that made her uncomfortable. She would rather sit in the corner by herself quietly.
Monique watched the crowd gather around the charming-looking man while she continued to eat.
Initially, the crowd was mostly his business partners or those who were trying to collaborate with him. After a while, there were a growing number of young women around him but they remained a respectful distance.
No one dared to approach too closely to him.
Monique chuckled. His presence was so strong that even though people were lining up to get on his good side, none of them dared to go too close to him.
While she pondered, she ate another piece of cake. It was her third dessert item. Even though they were all delicious, she began to feel a little sick of it.
She cleared her palette by sipping on the orange juice.
When she raised her head to look in Henry’s direction, she noticed that he was no longer there.
Monique scanned the crowd to look for him but he was nowhere to be found. In the moment of panic, she stood up to start searching for him.
“Beautiful, why are you sitting here all by yourself?” A rich kid approached her with a devilish grin with two glasses of wine in his hand.
It made her hair stand and she started to feel even more anxious.
She tried her best to maintain her composure and forced out a polite smile. “My friend went to the washroom.”
The man’s grin grew wider. “I saw you gobble down three pieces of cake. Are you here to scrounge for a free meal?”
