After Luther's plan didn't work, Pearl was getting more anxious. Luther was a tough guy to handle, even though he wasn't strong enough to beat her easily.

More importantly, Pearl was expecting a baby. She was scared that if Luther tried to harm her or her unborn baby, she wouldn't be able to protect her child properly.

Richard could tell that something was bothering Pearl lately. He asked her, "What's wrong?"

"I'm okay," Pearl replied, but she didn't sound very convincing.

Richard noticed how exhausted she looked and felt sorry for her. "We're together in this, and you're carrying our baby. I hate seeing you so worn out. You have to let me know if something's bothering you."

Pearl felt a bit better hearing his words. "It's not a big problem. Luther has been asking to work with me, but I said no. I'm worried he might try something sneaky," she explained.

Richard's expression turned serious. "Luther?"

He knew about Luther, who was rumored to be the illegitimate son of the Crawfords, and lived a nomadic life. He also knew that Luther didn't seem interested in the Crawford family's wealth and had never approached them.

Surprisingly, Luther wanted to work with Pearl.

Pearl nodded. "Yes, he might hold some grudges against the Crawfords. He wants my help to deal with them."

"That's absurd! Does he think he can get you to join him just by asking?"
