It was late at night, but the light in the study was still on. 

Unable to sleep, Simon left his room and noticed a light streaming under the study door. 

He walked over and knocked before opening the door. 

Inside, Victor was lying on the couch, papers scattered across the floor. He held one sheet in his hand, occasionally chuckling as he read it.

new. Why are you sleeping here?” Simon asked as he walked in with two glasses of whiskey. He handed one to Victor and kept the other for himself. 

Victor took a small sip. “I gave my room to someone else.” 

“To someone else? Who? Hunter?” Simon was curious. 

Victor remained silent. 

Simon probed, “Was it… Ariana?” 

“Yes” Victor hummed. 

Simon was stunned. 

“You gave it to Ariana?” Simon was suspicious. “Don’t you have OCD? You don’t even let me set foot in your room! 

Victor didn’t respond to Simon. It was true that he hated people touching his things. But Ariana didn’t seem dirty.

“Honestly, that girl is amusing. She reminds me of the kitten I had abroad, always puffing herself up extending her tiny

“You could say that,” Victor replied. 

After meeting Evelyn, Victor realized she wasn’t clever or special. Even Brian didn’t seem overly attached to her. 

But Ariana… She appeared to mean something to Brian. 

“But the Torrey family is in ruins now. There’s nothing to gain from them. If Brian doesn’t actually care about Ariana, aren’t you wasting your time trying to use her to get to him?” Simon asked. 

Victor hadn’t come to Gleaston to compete with William and Brian. He only intended to reap the benefits battled, watching the two strong forces weaken each other.
