Simon placed his half finished glass of whiskey on the table and stood up. “Goodnight and sweet dreams.” 

He left the study and closed the door behind him on the way out. 

Victor stared at the half–finished glass of whiskey on the desk. After a brief silence, he picked it up and downed the rest in one go. 

It was nearing midnight. Isaac had finally finished all his tasks for the evening. He glanced at Brian, who was glancing at his phone, and hesitated before asking, “You’ve been out of it all night. What’s going on?” 

Brian snapped back to reality and placed his phone down with a hint of irritation. 

Isaac knew Brian was always focused on work. So, he quickly deduced that this had something to do with Ariana. ” It’s about Ms. Torrey again, right?” 

Brian didn’t respond, but his silence confirmed Isaac’s guess. 

So, it was about Ariana. The Brian he knew had never been like this before. 

“Let me take another guess. You’re upset because Ms. Torrey hasn’t texted you all day, right?” Isaac caught Brian’s shift in expression and knew he was right again. 

Isaac smiled knowingly. “Just admit it, Brian. You’ve fallen for Ariana.” 

Brian’s face fell. “Me? In love with Ariana? What nonsense are you spouting?” 

“This is not nonsense. I have evidence to back it up!” Isaac grew serious. “Brian, when you like someone, you can’t help but want to reach out to them–to know what’s going on with them. You’ve been checking your phone so many times tonight. What else could you be hoping to see besides a message from Ariana? I know you’re a proud man, and you are holding yourself back from texting her first. That’s why you’re so frustrated.” 

Brian’s expression turned unpleasant from being read like an open book by Isaac. 

Isaac continued, “Ariana used to like you so much, and you didn’t even spare her a glance. Now that she’s stopped chasing you, you’ve started liking her. Isn’t that pure…! 

Before Isaac could finish his sentence, Brian shot him a glare that made him swallow his words. 

“Ariana is just a woman who will stop at nothing for money How could I possibly like someone like that?” Brian retorted.
