Brian fell silent at Isaac’s words.
Isaac continued, “Admit It, Brian. You’ve fallen for Ms. Toty, but you don’t even realize it. That’s why you’re so distracted right now.”
“That’s enough,” Brian interrupted coldly and stood up. “Don’t bring this up again.”
With that, he turned to Emily, who was waiting at the door ‘Emily, get the car. We’re leaving.”
“Yes, Mr. Lodge.” Emily led Brian toward the exit.
Behind him, Isaac shook his head helplessly at Brian’s retreating figure.
Once outside, Brian got into the car.
Emily asked, “Mr. Lodge, are we heading straight home, or.”
“To Ariana’s apartment,” Brian replied.
Emily was taken aback. “To Ms. Torrey’s apartment? But it’s already so late, isn’t it…‘
…A bit inappropriate?
Emily didn’t dare to finish her sentence.
Brian hesitated before asking, “Do you think I like Ariana?
“I…” Emily hesitated, unsure how to respond. Shouldn’t Brian know his own feelings better?
“Answer me,” Brian demanded coldly.
Emily had no choice but to reply, “I just feel that ever since the engagement party, your attitude toward Ms. Torrey seems different from before.”
“That’s because she always manages to make me angry. I’m just annoyed,” Brian retorted.
“But if you didn’t care about her, how could her words affect you so much?” Emily’s words caught Brian off guard, and he froze.
Emily continued, “You’re always considerate toward Ms. Granger because you’ve made a promise to her. You’ve always valued responsibility above all else. Since you promised to–care for her, you wouldn’t let her be wronged, even when rumors about you spread. But Ms. Torrey… She’s the only one who has ever been able to affect your emotions like this.”
“That’s enough,” Brian interrupted with a frown. “Take me to Ariana’s apartment.”
…Yes, Mr. Lodge.” Emily started the car and drove toward Ariana’s apartment.
When they arrived at the apartment, Brian stood at the entrance but hesitated to go in. It was already past midnight. What if Ariana was already asleep?
“Mr. Lodge…” Emily spoke softly.
If they didn’t go in soon, the security guards would likely come over to ask questions.
“Come with me,” Brian suddenly said.
“Me?” Emily blinked in surprise. What was she supposed to do there?
