Harriette’s POV 

Right after I ran out of Rowan’s office, Luna Angela met up with me. She held my hand tightly as I fought the tears that threatened to fall down my face. 

She took me by my hand and led me to the apartment Alpha Rowan had given to me. I placed my head on her shoulder as she said soothing words to me. 

I didn’t cry. I didn’t speak. I didn’t close my eyes. I just kept on staring at nothing as I felt dizzy. 

Once I realized I had my emotions back on track and the dizziness had stopped, 1 lifted my head and stared at her. 

“How are you feeling now?” She asked. 

I shrugged. “Good!” 

“Are you sure? You know it’s okay to cry,” 

She comforted me in her own 

way. 

“Tears are for weaklings. Real wolves shouldn’t cry and if we do, we shouldn’t do it around others,” 

She nodded slowly. I thought she would judge me like everyone else when I say something different from what they know but there wasn’t a glint of judgment in her eyes. 

“That’s okay but it’s also okay to cry sometimes,” 

I agreed. Just not today,” 

She smiled at me. 

Alpha Darius opened the door and came in. His shoulder was slumped and he had this look on his face as though he’d disappointed me. 

“I tried talking to him but it appeared as though he had made up his mind already,” 

I shrugged again. “That’s fine by me. I’ll leave his pack,” 

They both shared a suspicious look. It looked as though they were doing the mind–link thing again. 

“Would you love to come with us?” 

She asked me. 

“To where?” 

“Qur pack. We asked Alpha Rowan and he gave us your document. We read it and we know that you currently don’t have a -home to go to right now,”

“I think I should go talk to Ella,” 

I quickly stood up and ran out of the room. Why did I say that? I bit down on my tongue. 

On my way to look for Ella, I saw Alpha Rowan on the other side of the road, staring at the apartment I just came out from He had his dark shades on. 

When he saw me, he froze but he didn’t look away. He removed the shade and I let out a deep breath of relief I didn’t know I’d been holding.

She looked genuinely happy, If not happier than when we were back home. 

“Wow, blending in just fine,” I spat. “Mother would be so proud of you,” 

She turned around sharply and grabbed my hand. Ella pulled me into a secluded area.

I frowned. “I was only messing with you,” 

“What do you want? I’m guessing you don’t hate me anymore all of a sudden,” 

I don’t hate you. I was just mad at you. You were being annoying and suspicious,” 

She nodded. “I know but you were acting crazy too and weird.” 

“Uhn, yes and you were weird too. Thanks for reminding me,” 

She gave me the stink eye. “What do you want?” 

“Alpha Rowan wants me to leave the pack with the people who claimed they’re my parents, 

“Are they?” 

“Was that all you could grab from what I said?” I asked her. 

Her eyes suddenly went wide as her brain processed what I just said. “Shit! What happened? What did you do?? 

I first frowned at her before I rolled my eyes. “Honestly, I don’t know. He just suddenly asked me to leave,” 

“What are you going to do now?” 

“Should we leave with them?” I asked her. 

She nodded quickly as though she had been waiting for me to say it. “We’re in this together, Harriette. I’ll go with you but what about the mission?” she asked. 

“Td failed already and since Alpha Rowan wants me to leave, we can’t go back home. If we do, Mother will kill me and we also can’t stay back here,” 

“Okay, let’s do that,”
