Rowan’s POV 

It’s been three days since Harriette left the pack. Three excruciating days How I managed to keep control of my sanity was a mystery to me. If possible, I should be given an accolade for doing that shit successfully. 

The thought of her being miles away haunted me. Her presence in my room the night before she left calmed both Thorne and me for a while and her lingering scent was the only thing I Was holding on to. 

1 talked to her a day before but that wasn’t enough. I needed her presence like my life depended on it. 

I didn’t know how long it would take before I would see her again but I hoped I don’t lose it before then. 

“You’ll kill him, Alpha Rowan, let him go,” 

Mila spat, holding a mocking smile. She squinted her eyes as she tried to hold the laughter while she stared down at me and 

Gidon 

I let go of the chokehold I had on him and Gideon started coughing violently. 

I hadn’t even realized I was holding on for that long 

God! 1 almost died. I swear, I saw my mom,” Gideon managed to say after he got back on his feet 

His voice was still strained and his words, forced. 

“I wanted to train alone. You insisted on joining me, I reminded him.. 

“Yes, I did because I was gullible enough to believe that you wouldn’t kill me,” he snapped. “Alpha Rowan,” he added when he realized he was being disrespectful. 

I didn’t care about the respect thing. Infact, I didn’t give a shit about it but these days, I’ve been on edge. 

“You owe me your life, Gideon. If I hadn’t been here, he would’ve killed you,” Mika added jokingly. 

“My life is worth nothing, Mika, I promise. My family members are dead and I don’t have a penny to my name,” Gideon answered. 

“You don’t have to be so serious about a joke,” 

“I almost lost my life right now. I think I’m allowed to crack a serious joke,” 

1 groaned. One thing about Gideon that I hated was how he never knew how to let go of issues. He would talk about it repeatedly until you get so close to punching the daylight out of him

throats out and gave it to our science students to dissect,” 

I threatened. 

“I almost got my breath cut off five minutes ago. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get my throat ripped out,” 

“Goodness, Mika groaned. 

I could see my claws protruding because of how angry I was. I stood up and left for the changing room before I committed a murder. Gideon was pissing me off but it wouldn’t be enough reason to murder him. 

“You’ve been on the edge lately, Mika said from behind me. 

“So you’ve reminded me since,” I told her. 

I’d first run around the pack before I came into the training room. The plan was to lift weight, hit the punching bag for a while and maybe take another lap around the pack until Mika al Gideon walked in. Gideon insisted on having physical combat with me while Mika decided we would go a round too after I was done with Gideon. 

“Maybe you should call her,” Mika suggested. 

“I already did,” 

You called her today. 

I shook my head. “Maybe you should call her today,” 

“And why would I do that?” I asked her. 

“Calling her every day would help calm both you and that demon inside of you,” 

“Careful what you say about Thorne. Don’t make him go after you once he’s in control,” 

Mika suddenly went pale. It was a joke. 

“That might’ve been a joke in your own book but you shouldn’t joke like that with people who know that bastard.” 

She answered. 

“Fine!” I groaned. 

“Why don’t you go see her?” 

I turned to her, dejectedly. “Why don’t you leave me alone, Mika? 

“Im just worried about you,” 

“There’s nothing to be worried about. I’m good, I told her. 

“No, you’re not. Should I remind you of the things you’ve done since Harriette left? I had to keep checking to see if it was Rowan or Thorne, Guess what, it’s only been three days,” 

“All I need is a distraction,” 

“You almost killed Gideon just now,” 

“Things went out of hand for a bit,” 

“You clawed out a prisoner’s eyes this morning.” 

“He wouldn’t tell me what I wanted,” 

“You crashed your car into the drainage and yelled at everyone to leave it there,” 

“Mechanical errors, not my 

fault.” 

“You yelled in the chef’s face because he added 

cayenne pepper to your oats. Before you find an excuse for that too. 

remember it was your weird thing. You always told him to add silt to it,” 

I shrugged.
