Chapter 95
Angela’s POV
The urgency in my mom’s words was nothing compared to the pain her words carried. They weren’t even only words, they were a plea. A plea for help or salvation. I didn’t wait to drop the call before I barged out of the house and walked back to my mom’s place.
I was lucky enough to meet her and Reina at the front door, locking up.
“Mom, what’s wrong?”
When she turned to me, I could see the tears in her eyes. She had been crying.
“I don’t know, Angela. Nothing’s making sense. They called me and asked me to come to the hospital. They said Brit was at the hospital and she wasn’t fine,”
“They??”
“Some warriors,”
“I’m sure she’s okay,”
“I have a bad feeling about this,” she answered. Even though I had no hope in me, I still went ahead to assure my mom that everything was fine.
I locked my hands with Reina’s and she looked up at me. Her words from this morning about Brittany came back to me and I wanted to ask her but I decided till later. Something more urgent was going on and I couldn’t wait to get to the hospital to see it was something minor.
We finally got to the hospital and we were welcomed by Azalea.
“Madam, your sister’s name is Brittany, right?”
“Yes”
“Yes,” both me and my mom chorused.
“One of the warriors recognized her after…” he paused.
“After what?” I asked him.
“After she was dropped off at the pack’s gate some minutes ago by a strange car. She’s in a critical state and I think to go in to see her first,” He suggested while looking at me.
“Why can’t I go see her?” My mother asked.
Gently he responded. “I don’t think a mother should see her daughter in such a state,”
My mother gasped and she began crying again.
“How critical are we talking?”
“Whatever it is that you think critical is, think worse,”

“Ma’am, please take a seat,” A nurse walked my mom to a seat at the reception before she could collapse while I asked Reina

I did as Azalea suggested and took that big deep breath. I looked through the open curtain. Brittany was in a horrible state. 1 almost collapsed into the floor but Azalea held me up. I shook my head. There was no way I could look at her twice. The bruises the big gash on her head, her twisted leg, the missing toenails. Words became replaced by bile in my throat.
I had to rush to one of the bathroom stalls to throw up. Tears rolled down my face and I had to steady my breath to be able to breathe properly.
I rested my back against the wall and covered my mouth before I finally allowed the tears to flow. I wailed for Brittany and 1 wailed for my mom. The pain, the burden, the discomfort, and the uncertainty in the days to come.
How would my mom feel when she sees her daughter in that position? The only daughter who was with her when the stupid me left her behind? She lost her husband so early in life and is she supposed to lose her daughter too?
I shook my head in response to my own question. We won’t lose Brittany. She won’t leave us.
I washed my face with water and walked out of the bathroom. Azalea was waiting for me.
“Are you okay?” He asked patiently.
No, I’m not okay but I have to be strong for my mom,”
“You should,”
We both walked silently to where Brittany was. She was already placed on life support and Halle was her attending physician.
“Do you think you can go in now?*
Yes,
I walked into the room and took another look at her. I knew this image of hers would haunt me for my life. Maybe if I’d tried so hard to stop her from leaving, Brittany would be hale and hearty and not this wounded person I was staring at.
“Angela, Halle placed a hand on the small of my back.
“Help her, please,” I begged.
I would roll on the floor, eat dirt, or sleep in the drainage just to save my sister.
My eyes lingered on her lifeless body and the more I looked at her, the angrier I got. What could’ve happened? What could’ve gone wrong? She was a smart girl. She was a good girl. Whoever dropped her off at the gates definitely knew who she was. This wasn’t a case of coincidence.
I’ll do my very best to save her, Angela but she’s in a life threatening condition. Not even her wolf can save her right now. Only a miracle can,”
I nodded. “Then, I need a miracle. She can’t die, Halle. She just can’t,”

“Before she was intubated, she woke up for a few seconds and repeatedly murmured Zack’s name. What do you think? Is he her mate? Was there any relationship between them?”
Without saying a word to her, I walked out of the room. Before I could walk out of the hospital to carry out my mom stopped me.
