A Promising Youth novel Chapter 34

Once again, I came with Clara back to that not-so-luxurious but cozy home. I had mixed feelings!

There was a time I fantasized about living with her and getting the company well, and that we would develop a love for each other over time.

But because of Marcel's appearance, all my fantasies collapsed. Without realizing it, I actually felt a bit childish.

And Clara, who always loved to talk and laugh, went straight to her room when she got home and didn't communicate with me too much. I thought she was busy talking to Marcel on the phone.

Putting aside my sadness, I took out from my bag the diary that the teachers had given me. Sienna said that the answer to the Master's enemies could be found in the diary. I didn't know if that diary was the one I was holding, but as long as there was a ray of hope, I wouldn't let it go.

I locked the door, drew the curtains and opened the diary. In fact it had a lot of industry techniques and experience which I had long known. But there were some secret peculiarities I did not look at it very carefully.

After searching repeatedly for a few moments, I suddenly found a suspicious incident, and the name of the owner of the incident was “Brian Armstrong”!

More than ten years ago, there were rumors that when the downtown was to move to the development zone. Brian Armstrong was the leader of the development zone, and then the rumors were not fulfilled. The development zone was built into an industrial area, while several Brian Armstrong's men got into the prison for no reason. But Brian Armstrong was fine and got promoted.

This was obviously not normal. So many people had been imprisoned, but Brian Armstrong got promoted. And was Master one of them?

Did he get framed by Brian Armstrong?

If so, then the enemy Sienna was talking about would be him.

The thought of this made the sweat on my body. To make an enemy of a man as powerful as Brian was tantamount to death!

What was more, even someone as powerful as the Master was tragically framed!

What should I do?

Should I go on?

That night, I was especially scared!

And finally, I understood why Master asked me not to get involved in this matter!

Because I couldn't do anything about it. If I got involved, I'd probably be crushed to the ground without a scrap of flesh left!

In a trance, it was raining outside the window. In the lightning and thunder, I curled up in the corner of my bed in fear, and the memory seemed to take me all at once back to what I had been, to that dark cruel home.

At that time, my father beat me and my brother insulted me. This was how I curled up hiding under the bed at night in the middle of every storm, because I knew that my father and my brother were enemies that I could never resist and that I lived to endure.

But I met Master, who taught me to resist and let me get rid of that family. Now, Brian was like my father and brother.

He was powerful, insurmountable!

Am I supposed to live like this?

Watching Master who changed my life stayed in prison for no reason?

“Resist, the enemy may not be as scary as you think, take the first step and you'll find out differently!”

The voice of Master was ringing in my ears.

A feverish rush of blood hit my heart, I gritted my teeth and looked out the window with tears in my eye.

“I must resist!”

When I woke up the next day, Clara had been depressed. At dinner, I asked her if something was on her mind.

She took a deep breath and said,

“I had thought about it all night. Maybe I shouldn't have haunted you. That woman could have given you a better life, a bigger job opportunity, so don't care how I feel. If you want to go, just go.”

“What if Carrie makes troubles to you again?”

I asked her.

“Last night, Marcel has agreed to come and join my company. With him around, you don't have to worry about me.”

She said with a forced smile.

“Although Marcel is capable, he is in no way a match for Carrie!”
