A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 126

Jeremy's expression remained cold. "Have you filled the prescriptions? Given every shot they need? I have told you again and again. Patients come first. You walked off your job. Is that how you treat your work?"

He fired off the rebuke so fast that Melody never got a chance to answer.

Harold rubbed his forehead. Jeremy clearly didn't want Melody standing there with that man, yet every word hit like a dart. Harold had never seen Jeremy scold anyone else like this.

He sighed and spoke up. "Ms. Wardolf, head back to the unit. We've got a heavy caseload. Thanks for covering."

Melody nodded, then turned and walked away without looking at Jeremy.

Behind her, Denvin called out, "Don't forget the juices."

She paused, feeling a little awkward about taking the juices from Denvin. Pressing her lips together, she nodded. "Thank you."

The moment she left, Denvin's expression changed. He looked at Jeremy coldly. "Dr. Chesson, you seem to have lots of free time."

Jeremy stayed stone-faced, his dark eyes unreadable, but Harold could tell he was angry.

Jeremy said, "Not as much as you. Regallo's stock is tanking, yet you have time to deliver juices."

Denvin's expression darkened instantly. He stared at Jeremy, but Jeremy remained unmoved.

...

Back at the nurses' desk, Melody handed one of the juices to Tiffany.

Tiffany asked, "When did you line up at that influencer shop? My friend said the line is at least half an hour."

"I didn't buy it," Melody replied. "My brother gave it to me."

"You have a brother?" Tiffany asked.

Melody hesitated and said, "Sort of."

Denvin seldom admitted she was his sister.
