In the end, Melody reached out to Denvin and agreed to help him in court. Even if he was just using her as a pawn, she had no choice but to agree.
Andrew's words meant nothing—he wasn't going to do anything about the orphanage. All of Melody's hope now rested on Denvin.
As for Tiffany's situation, it was almost certain that Andrew and Laura had meddled.
No one was going to help Melody, so she had to figure it out on her own.
When Jeremy heard what Melody said, his expression immediately darkened. He stared at her. "What do you mean by you know what to do?"
"I have work to do," she said, not wanting to explain.
It was a clear sign she didn't want to talk.
Jeremy looked at her, his face frigid. After a moment of silence, he turned and walked away.
If she didn't want his help, then fine. He didn't have that much free time to begin with, and he didn't want to deal with this kind of mess anyway.
Denvin, on the other hand, kept his word. Unlike Andrew, he didn't drag things out. The next day, he sent over a pile of documents.
The company involved had been operating at a loss for years, and there were signs of fraud in multiple areas.
Still, it wouldn't be easy to get to the bottom of it. Denvin said it would take at least a few more days to investigate thoroughly.
No matter how anxious she was, Melody didn't say anything. Instead, she quietly spent more of her own money to buy another batch of food for the orphanage.
That left only 2,000 in her account, but she hadn't touched the card Jason gave her.
He'd worked hard to get where he was, and his circumstances were even more difficult than hers.
There was some good news, though. Tiffany was back at work, even though she still had to face some consequences.
When Tiffany returned, her mother, Estelle Walker, came with her, bringing homemade cupcakes for the nurses at the station. She said with a smile, "Thank you all for looking out for Tiff. She told me this whole thing affected a lot of you, too. I'm really sorry about that."
She was a gentle woman, smiling warmly with every word.
Tiffany pulled Melody over. "Mom, this is the good friend I told you about, Melody Wardolf."
