A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 135

As Jeremy stepped out, he overheard someone laughing and saying, "I didn't expect Ms. Wardolf to be that hot. Did you see her body? Damn. If she were my girlfriend…"

"Keep dreaming. But seriously, if I were looking for someone, she'd be my type—innocent face, killer body. That contrast is everything."

Their conversation was blunt and crude. Disgust rose in him like a wave. Jeremy, for once, acted faster than he thought—he pushed open the break room door and glared coldly at the group inside. "Are you done?"

Most people in the hospital knew about his connection to Melody. The guys inside immediately looked awkward.

Jeremy's temper flared. "Is this what you do during work hours? Are you that bored? And Melody is your colleague, not your fantasy. You better keep those filthy thoughts to yourselves!"

He was usually composed and distant, but this was the first time he'd ever lost his temper like that. The guys looked thoroughly embarrassed, their faces turning red.

Jeremy stormed off. As he passed the nurses' station, he saw a few doctors crowding around Melody. His expression darkened, and he snapped, "Is everyone done with their work?"

Melody looked up, locking eyes with his sharp, icy gaze.

He seemed to be looking right at her, but also… not really.

She hesitated, then looked away. She had been so busy lately that she hadn't even had a proper conversation with him.

"Melody." His deep, smooth voice suddenly rang out. She looked at him instinctively.

He thought back to those vulgar words he'd just heard, and his tone grew heavier. "Have you forgotten you're a nurse? How does flashing yourself help your work?"

Melody froze. "Flashing myself?"

"Magazines, promo videos—how are any of those part of your actual job? This hospital isn't a place for showbiz. If you enjoy being in front of the camera so much, maybe you should leave. There's no need to turn this place into your personal stage."

His words were harsh, straight to the point, and not kind at all.

Melody bit her lip. Then, she said softly with a pale face, "I didn't mean to."

"Come on, Dr. Chesson," someone jumped in to defend her. "Melody's doing great at work. We were just curious, that's why we came to ask. There's no need to get so worked up."

But that only made Jeremy more annoyed.
