A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 138

Denvin had met with a client in the afternoon and was passing by the hospital, so he came to pick up Melody to head to the Regallo Group together.

Melody hung up the phone and was about to head downstairs. On the way, she ran into Jeremy and Harold.

Harold invited her again. "We're going to catch a bite now. Are you sure you don't want to join us?"

She replied, "No, I have an appointment."

As soon as she said that, Jeremy looked up at her. She met his gaze briefly, then immediately looked away.

The elevator ride down was strangely silent.

When the elevator doors opened on the first floor, Melody saw Denvin.

She was eager to resolve the orphanage issue quickly, so she walked straight toward Denvin without saying anything to Jeremy.

Her hurried walk toward Denvin made it clear she was in a rush.

Harold immediately recognized Denvin as the man who had brought Melody fruit tea the last time. He subconsciously glanced at Jeremy, who was staring coldly in her direction.

Melody felt nervous around Denvin and asked, "Have you finished investigating everything?"

He glanced at her and tossed a bag at her. "This is a gift from the client. Dig in."

It was a small cake, delicate and beautiful.

She held the little cake in confusion. Who would send a small cake as a gift?

Denvin thought she looked a bit dazed. He almost reached out to ruffle her hair, but then, he noticed Jeremy approaching.

Though Jeremy was stoic, he asked Melody, "So you're meeting him when you said you had something to do tonight?"

Denvin sensed the tone in Jeremy's question and raised an eyebrow. "Why couldn't it be me?"

Jeremy glanced at him. Then, he looked back at Melody, speaking in a neutral tone, "You two don't have a good relationship."

It was well-known among the Wardolf family that Melody and Denvin had a distant relationship. In fact, Melody was afraid of and even scared of Denvin.

Denvin sneered and shot back, "If I'm not mistaken, your relationship with her isn't exactly great either."

He had always noticed how cold Jeremy was toward Melody. It was only Melody, this fool, who spent every day staying by his side.
