Melody followed Denvin to the Regallo Group.
Denvin casually asked, "What were you two talking about earlier?"
Seeing her look at him, a trace of impatience crossed his brow. "It was when you and Jeremy were whispering to each other as we entered."
He noticed that the two of them were getting too close.
Melody didn't pick up on Denvin's unusual tone and answered, "It was work-related. He asked me if I wanted to assist with the surgery."
Denvin's eyebrows relaxed a little. "So, what do you think?"
"I don't know."
She was scared that something might go wrong, and that a patient might lose their life because of her.
She was actually quite timid. Growing up in the orphanage made her realize that staying in her safe zone was the best choice. That was why she always seemed so fragile, like a snail that only knew how to hide in its shell.
Not caring much, he commented, "If you want to do it, then do it."
She didn't respond.
…
They arrived at the Regallo Group. Denvin led Melody upstairs. Even though it was already past 8:00 pm, the Regallo Group was still brightly lit, and many people were still working overtime.
Denvin took Melody to his office, tossing her a USB drive. "Look for yourself. The Celestial Group is involved in 16 public welfare projects, including funding for 33 orphanages and schools.
"They didn't do much at first, but since the company started losing money, it became a routine for them to buy near-expired or expired food from the warehouse. But what's more interesting is that these warehouses seem to be part of an underground network, specifically for reselling these goods."
He paused for a moment, watching her tense expression. Though he hesitated for a brief second, he continued to tell her the harsh truth. "What are they reselling? They take expired or near-expired food, repackage it with new labels, and sell it all to charity foundations or companies."
