A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 143

Tiffany nodded. "They sent out the notice. Didn't you see the group message?"

Melody froze and then pulled out her phone.

Sure enough, the announcement in the group was that anyone participating in the filming would receive a work stipend of 5,000 dollars.

However, when she saw that the investor was the Regallo Charity Foundation, her grip on the phone tightened.

In the neurology department, many had signed up, but after various conditions were filtered out, the only remaining candidates were Melody and Krystal.

Benson was always fair, insisting on holding meetings and voting by raising hands.

The nurses at the nurses' station joked with Melody, "Melody, remember to treat us to dinner if you get the bonus. We'll definitely vote for you."

For the first time, Melody didn't decline. She bit her lip and nodded as she replied gently, "Thank you. I will."

"What are you all talking about?" Harold's voice sounded from behind.

She turned around to see Harold and Jeremy standing there.

Tiffany clued Harold in. "We were talking about Melody's participation. She's definitely going to treat us if she wins."

He asked, "Can I also have a meal? I'm just here for a freebie."

"It's not decided yet. It might not be you," Jeremy commented in a calm tone. "The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment."

The words sounded unpleasant, and even Harold frowned. "Jeremy, can you stop raining on everyone's parade? Who else could it be but Melody? Or are you not planning on voting for her?"

Melody raised her eyes to look at Jeremy and saw his slight frown, as if he was displeased. As expected, the next second, he answered, "I'm not participating in these trivial matters."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Harold comforted Melody, "Don't worry. He'll definitely vote for you."

She looked in the direction where Jeremy had gone and bit her lip lightly without speaking.

When work ended later that afternoon, she waited for him at the office entrance.

On the way home, she finally asked, "Jeremy, will you choose me or Krystal?"

Jeremy furrowed his brow. "What?"

Looking at him, she enunciated herself. "About the promotional video."

It was somewhat laughable—everyone else in the department said they would vote for her, and she believed them. Yet, when it came to Jeremy…

She just couldn't bring herself to believe him.

He was the person closest to her, but he was also the one who made her extremely uneasy.

Jeremy, who was unbuttoning his shirt, paused when he heard her. "Do you really want to be in the promotional video that badly?"

Melody nodded. "Yes."

She really needed that 5,000 dollars.

He looked at her for a moment, so she stared back, feeling nervous.

In truth, beyond the 5,000 dollars, she also secretly hoped that he would choose her for once—one different from everyone else's.

She knew exactly what she was hoping for, but she didn't dare say it out loud.

After a long while, Jeremy casually said, "Got it."
