Jeremy met Melody's gaze, and his grip on the steering wheel suddenly tightened. A bizarre feeling surged in his chest. He was slightly nervous, inexplicably ticked off, but also very uneasy.
He instinctively lowered his eyes and avoided her gaze. "I just don't want you to maliciously target Krystal because of something like that. She was injured, and she needs to rest quietly."
The smile on Melody's face froze. "So, are you preparing me just so I won't have any conflict with her?"
Jeremy frowned and said, "You might not do something like that, but your friends will."
Just like that, Melody's appetite for desserts was gone. "We're going home."
Jeremy took another glance at the pastry shop, but he didn't ask her again. He might've made the decision to be a boyfriend who would satisfy her needs, but he would not waste his time to make her feel flattered.
Soon, he stepped on the gas pedal and began driving home.
Meanwhile, Melody simply kept her head low and looked at her phone.
Felicia and Tiffany got along famously and had opened a chat group with Melody in it. At that moment, they were enthusiastically sending texts back and forth as Melody observed their chat log.
Melody had no idea how to join their conversation about their favourite celebrities, so she just stared at her phone and occasionally sent emoticons into the chat.
However, she only pretended to be occupied because she didn't want to talk to Jeremy.
…
During the weekend, Andrew gave Jeremy a call and invited them over for dinner.
Melody hesitated a little and said, "I have photoshoots today. I'll head to the Wardolf residence straight from there at night."
Jeremy had once offered to go back to the Wardolf residence with her, but he didn't show up. So, Melody didn't even think about asking him this time. After all, the last thing she wanted was to put herself through something like that again.
