Melody still hadn't gone over to check on Krystal. All she knew was that Jeremy seemed to be constantly running around because of her.
Melody briefly wondered what she should do after work. Eventually, she decided to go home by herself. Going by past experience, Jeremy would most probably give Krystal and Laura a ride home.
However, things took an unexpected turn.
When it was time to get off work, Jeremy showed up on time to pick Melody up. He was dressed in a casual outfit as he looked at her and said, "Change into something more comfortable. I'll wait for you."
Aside from his usual nonchalant expression, there weren't any other detectable emotions on his face. It was as if he said stuff like this all the time.
Melody hesitantly asked, "What about Krystal? Aren't you going to give her a ride home?"
After Andrew left, she no longer heard anymore news about Krystal. She had no idea what had happened later on.
Jeremy was momentarily stunned. Then, he said, "I took them home, but I came back to the hospital."
Melody responded, "Oh." But she didn't show any other reaction.
Jeremy looked at her, his eyes devoid of emotion, calm as the stillest sea. It made Melody believe that she had been overthinking it.
Nevertheless, Melody was still dispirited by the matter regarding Andrew and Felicia. So, she remained quiet during the entire drive.
When they passed by a pastry shop, Jeremy suddenly pulled over by the side of the road and asked, "Do you want a slice of cake?" He vaguely recalled that Melody was fond of sweet foods.
Melody looked at him, feeling a little surprised. "Didn't you use to say that desserts aren't good for us?"
