A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 168

It sounded like a question, but it was clearly a statement.

Melody stared at Jeremy with her clean, bright eyes.

Jeremy's heart gave a sudden, violent twitch that made his chest ache. It suddenly occurred to him that he'd indeed told her in the morning that he would pick her up at the studio.

She'd rejected his offer, but there'd still been a twinge of anticipation in her bright eyes. Although they were still as clear as ever now, they lacked the sparkle he saw in the morning. Instead, they were now very somber.

Jeremy lowered his eyes a little as an uncontrollable surge of emotion roiled within his chest. His voice was cold as he said, "Yeah. Her patient suddenly relapsed, and she went to the hospital."

Melody nodded and gently responded, "How responsible."

Jeremy frowned slightly and said, "But she shouldn't have walked with that ankle, let alone go to the hospital. That's why I swung by and picked her up."

"You two have got a nice thing going." Melody's expression was still as detached as before, yet her tone remained gentle.

This was the same look Jeremy himself usually had on, but it somehow made him feel a little uncomfortable.

His eyes darkened. He stared at Melody for a while, but he didn't say anything in the end.

Melody didn't ask him any more questions either. Instead, she walked straight back to her room to take a shower and get changed.

She might've moved out of the Wardolf residence, but Andrew still made her stay for a few days if it was necessary. So, her room was still well-kept.

By the time Melody went downstairs again, everyone was already there.

She took a seat next to Jeremy.
