When Melody came out of the theater, her eyes were bright and sparkling, and there was even a slight smile on her face.
She opened the car door and got in with a cup of tea in her hand. Then, she cautiously asked Jeremy, "Have you had dinner?"
Jeremy answered, "I ate at the Wardolfs."
Melody glanced at him, then handed him the tea. "Do you want to try this? It's black peach tea. It's really nice." Then, as if she were worried that Jeremy would dislike it, she quickly added, "I just bought it on my way out."
When Melody was coming out, she happened to run into a lady who was buying tea.
The lady cheerfully beamed when she said that she was going to be seeing her boyfriend later and that she was getting the tea for him.
The lady's smile had probably touched something in Melody, so she was influenced to buy one herself.
When the vendor had asked if she wanted to have it there or to go, she'd randomly blurted out, "I'm getting it for my boyfriend."
Jeremy stared at the cup of tea in her hand. His expression didn't change, but he didn't reach for it either. After a second, he finally said, "I don't drink low-quality beverages like this. It's best you don't either. They're neither sanitary nor healthy."
The sliver of hope that had bloomed in Melody was instantly crushed by his blunt words.
She must've lost her mind earlier to have bought the cup of tea. She had clearly forgotten who Jeremy was.
He had always been incredibly picky.
She looked down so her eyelashes hid the emotions flickering in her eyes. "Alright, I won't buy it next time," she said with a nod.
Jeremy noticed a trash bin not too far away. "You can throw it away," he said.
Melody answered in a small voice, "I want to take it home and drink it myself."
Jeremy's eyebrows tightly furrowed, clearly displeased with her decision.
Melody knew full well that this wasn't anything healthy, and yet she still insisted on drinking it. But at the end of the day, that was her prerogative, so Jeremy didn't make any further comments.
