More accurately, when had Melody ever been petulant in these past 20 or so years?
Melody closed her eyes and tightly pressed her lips together.
She merely wanted a bit of care and affection from him, but in his eyes, that was considered being petulant.
So, she pushed through the pain and wiped her tears away. Then, she gathered her things and went to the patient in Bed 3.
From behind, she looked particularly frail, and even her steps appeared unsteady—likely because of the pain.
Caleb stared at Melody in concern. After some deliberation, he turned to Jeremy and said, "Jeremy, you were a little harsh just now."
"Was he wrong though?" Krystal countered. She frowned as she continued, "If she expects Jeremy to accompany her unconditionally just because she's his girlfriend, then what would happen if the person injured right now wasn't me but a patient instead?
"Should he leave the patient and keep her company instead?"
Caleb understood where Krystal was coming from, but her words still didn't sound appropriate. In fact, there was something odd about them, but he couldn't quite place a finger on what it was. Instead, he just said, "I'll go get an orthopedic doctor for you."
However, Jeremy stopped him. "I'll go. You come and hold onto her." Then, he strode off without waiting for Krystal's acknowledgement.
Caleb hurried over to hold onto Krystal, worried that she'd fall over.
Meanwhile, Krystal stared at Jeremy as he walked away. Then, she lowered her eyes, her expression unreadable.
Truthfully, she didn't think Jeremy and Melody were a good match. After all, Jeremy was a rare genius, whereas Melody was just uncultured and unintelligent.
She couldn't imagine what conversations the two of them could even have.
…
Even though Melody was cramping badly, she was still excellent at what she did.
After she collected herself, she went to Bed 3 to draw blood and take the blood pressure.
When she came out, she happened to see Tiffany walking toward her.
