A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 216

Melody abruptly stood up with her head down and completely forgot that Jeremy was right in front of her.

She collided straight into his chest.

Jeremy let out a soft grunt and instinctively wrapped his arms around her waist.

The subtle scent of body wash lingered on his warm skin. Melody could clearly see his defined collarbones and toned chest too.

Her mouth went dry, and a blush rushed to her face.

Suddenly, she felt like a total pervert.

Embarrassed, she didn't dare look up. She could only softly mumble, "I..."

But before she could finish her sentence, Jeremy grasped her chin and tilted her head upward, his dark eyes swirling with deepening desire.

...

On the day of their return flight, Cassie personally came out to see them off.

She warmly greeted Jeremy, "Dr. Chesson, I'll really miss you." Then, she playfully glanced at Melody. "And you too, Ms. Wardolf. Even though you're his fiancée right now, but..." Cassie paused deliberately, then casually said, "Anyway, I hope you're still his fiancée the next time you visit."

Melody's face immediately tightened, and she anxiously glanced at Jeremy.

However, he was already off to the side, taking a phone call, oblivious to Cassie's words.

Just then, Ophelia walked over to call Melody to the car.

Upon noticing her staring intently in Cassie's direction, she quietly said, "I don't know the full story, but there's definitely nothing going on between Jeremy and Cassie. People here are just naturally friendly. Cassie's attention isn't just on Jeremy."

Melody felt awkward at having been seen through so easily. "I know," she softly murmured.

It was past midnight when they landed back in Jembina.

Echo hadn't flown back with them. Immediately after finalizing the adoption, Jeremy had arranged for someone to handle the dog's vet checks and travel permits. Echo would be brought back to Jembina later on a private flight.
