A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 231

Jeremy's voice was colder than usual. "Denvin, where is she? Why is her phone in your hands?"

Denvin's tone remained unchanged. "I told you, she's asleep." Then, he mockingly said, "Dr. Chesson, you're a busy man, so I won't waste your time. I'm hanging up now."

With that, he abruptly ended the call and tossed the phone back to Melody.

Melody stiffened slightly. She had heard everything Denvin just said.

She quietly murmured, "I'm not asleep."

Denvin didn't even look at her. "I suggest you get some rest. You should take a look at your face. It looks like a fish that's been dead for three days."

Melody had nothing to say. She indeed felt tired, but she couldn't sleep with Denvin nearby.

Denvin coldly snorted. "Stop looking at me like I'm a thief. Regallo Group isn't in the human trafficking business."

Melody pursed her lips, not daring to say anything more.

But Denvin's harsh tone did make her feel a little more at ease. Once she relaxed, she slowly drifted off to sleep.

When Melody woke up again, it was already dusk.

Denvin had parked the car in front of her apartment.

Now, Melody didn't feel as dizzy as before. After getting out of the car, she thanked Denvin.

Denvin glanced at his phone and casually said, "Saying thank you is one thing, but you should take me out to dinner sometime."

Melody hesitated before nodding.

To be honest, Denvin still felt like the distant, hard-to-approach eldest son of the Wardolf family to her.

He scoffed. "I want to talk to you about Celestial Group. Do you think I'm that free?"

Melody remembered what Andrew had said before and guessed that Denvin must have uncovered something important. She nodded in response. "Okay."

After a moment, she added, "Denvin, thank you."

Denvin didn't like her calling him "brother." Although it felt awkward to Melody, she still thanked him sincerely. "Also… I didn't expect you to renovate the orphanage."

Although Andrew had supported the orphanage for many years, he never mentioned renovating it. On the other hand, even though Denvin had only been involved with the orphanage for a short time, he had decided to renovate it. This showed that he was serious about this matter.

Denvin's handsome eyebrows lifted slightly as he said, "I told you, if you want to thank me, take me out to dinner. The sooner, the better. I have some free time tomorrow evening."

Melody earnestly nodded. "Okay."

She watched Denvin leave then turned to head inside. However, when she did, she found Jeremy standing across from her.

He was expressionlessly looking in her direction.

Melody immediately avoided his gaze. Whenever she saw him, that suffocating feeling from earlier would rise again. She simply lowered her gaze and walked forward, trying to walk past him.

However, just as she brushed past him, Jeremy hoarsely said, "Melody."
