A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 232

Jeremy glanced down at the message on his phone. When he looked up again, Melody had already turned her back to him.

The gloominess on his face became more pronounced, and his thoughts grew restless once more.

However, when he thought of her message saying she was scared and remembered how her eyes were red from crying earlier, his emotions settled a little.

Harold had said that when Melody was at her most helpless, she'd think of him because she depended on him.

Perhaps it was his sense of responsibility as a doctor, but Jeremy had always been patient with people who depended on him.

His gaze darkened slightly, but nevertheless, he soon followed Melody as she made her way inside.

Melody knew Jeremy was following her, but she didn't stop walking. When she opened the door, a soft whining sound came from inside.

It was Echo.

She had been out all day, and Echo had only had one meal. It was now lying pitifully on the floor, watching her.

Melody immediately felt a pang of sympathy. She picked Echo up and carried it into the living room. Then, she went to get some food for it.

Jeremy saw her walking around the living room with the dog and reminded her in a low voice, "Don't carry it around like that. Animals carry a lot of parasites."

Melody paused for a moment, bit her lip, and simply walked past him. She then headed to her room with Echo in her arms.

Jeremy's face darkened slightly. "What are you doing?"

Melody replied, "You think it's dirty for it to stay in the living room, so I'm taking it to my room."

His brow furrowed. "Taking it to your room doesn't make it any cleaner. I'm just reminding you to pay attention to hygiene."

Melody glanced back at Jeremy. As she held Echo in her arms, her face showed no expression. Meanwhile, her eyes were clear and bright, appearing both innocent and calm.

She softly said, "Jeremy, if you can't accept Echo being here, then why did you suggest bringing it home in the first place?"
