Andrew sounded stern, but Melody couldn't hear him.
He looked serious as he watched her for a moment. He spoke in a commanding tone. "Mel, apologize to Ms. Langford. Own up if you made a mistake. Don't think you can do whatever you want just because you have the Wardolf family behind you!"
He sighed and spoke to the others. "Melody has had trouble with her hearing since she was young. We tend to spoil her a bit at home, so sometimes she can be too much. I admit I neglected to teach her properly."
Even when he finished, Melody still didn't react.
Andrew frowned. He urged her again in a quieter but firmer voice. "Mel, didn't you hear me?"
This time, the warning was clear.
Then Tessa, who had been so agitated, suddenly passed out.
Everyone started shouting in confusion.
Melody snapped back to reality, and her instincts as a nurse made her want to step forward to check on Tessa.
Suddenly, pain shot through her arm. Someone yanked her back forcefully. She couldn't stand steady and got knocked to the side.
Jeremy brushed past her and crouched in front of Tessa with a serious expression, checking her condition.
He paid no attention to Melody behind him, who hit her waist against the corner of a table because she lost her balance.
Melody's face turned pale. The pain was so sharp she couldn't even gasp.
She could see the chaos around her, but she heard nothing. She trembled as she raised her hand to fix her hearing aid that had come loose.
However, there was no sound. No sound at all.
Melody's eyes went wide, full of fear and panic.
She took the hearing aid off and put it on again, repeating the action a few times. Yet, there was still no response.
Her heart raced wildly, and her breathing grew rapid. She walked toward Jeremy.
