Krystal stared at Jeremy intently. "Don't you think Melody is being too overbearing?
"You know about my parents' situation. They have health issues, to begin with, and they're suffering from gas poisoning now." She shut her eyes as she spoke. She wouldn't have known about it if Sybil had never told her about it.
…
After Melody confronted Dennis at the hospital, he was tormented both physically and mentally. Later, he was adamant about leaving the hospital. Flat out of options, Sybil gave Krystal a phone call and told her everything.
Krystal's voice was clearly trembling, and her fists were clenched tightly. A hint of plea showed up on her arrogant expression.
"The whole mess started because of me. I will agree to any requests Melody makes. My parents can't take the torment she has put them through."
Initially, Krystal believed that Jeremy would get what she was hinting at, especially when she had made it crystal clear.
However, he didn't feel moved at all. He responded calmly, "I made a promise to her."
Jeremy might not have agreed with the way Melody handled the case, but a promise was a promise. Then, he walked past Krystal and left.
Krystal watched his retreating figure, her expression darkening. Afterward, everyone in the neurosurgery department knew that she and Jeremy had an unpleasant fallout.
…
When Tiffany told Melody about it, she sighed, commenting, "You should've seen the look on Krystal's face. It was as if Jeremy were her rival or something.
"I wondered how that affected him, though. After all, they used to be so close to each other. He even deliberately gave you the cold shoulder for her sake, time and time again."
Melody didn't respond to Tiffany. Actually, she could tell that Jeremy didn't want her to stir up trouble for Dennis and Sybil again.
After Tiffany was done taking pleasure in Jeremy's misfortune, she turned to chastise Dennis and his entire family.
Melody never hid the fact that Dennis hired the middle-aged couple. If he had the gall to do something like that, then he had better have the balls to own up to it.
