Jeremy didn't care about Melody's matters. All he wanted was to be left out of it.
Not long after Tiffany and Melody talked about him, he arrived home. She heard sounds from the entrance and immediately ended her call with Tiffany.
Melody watched quietly as he walked into the apartment. He gave her something in his hand and said, "I passed by the pastry shop on my way home."
It was Melody's favorite pastry shop. Although Jeremy had brought home a chocolate cake for her and she took it from him, she felt no joy.
Ever since what happened with Dennis, he had almost always brought something for her each time he came home. Sometimes, it was cake, whereas other times it was fruit.
Melody knew very well that he was just pacifying her. He harbored the hope that she would someday tell him with a smile that she no longer held Dennis responsible.
Jeremy's eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly when he saw the lack of changes in her expression.
Silence draped over the room they were in.
Eventually, Melody broke the silence and asked, "Are there any updates about Dennis' matter?"
He immediately froze before responding flatly, "Ever since he passed out last time, he has been under medical care the whole time. It's not a good time to talk about this now."
Melody lowered her gaze. "When would it be suitable, then?"
His gaze darkened slightly, and his stunning face slowly became aloof. For starters, he had never liked being told what to do and forced to comply, to begin with.
Right now, Melody seemed to have become insufferably aggressive because she believed that she had the advantage when it came to this matter.
