A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 272

Krystal accused Melody of being overbearing the moment she opened her mouth.

Melody froze for a moment before she corrected Krystal. "Maybe you should ask your parents about the truth before you negotiate with me. Am I being too aggressive, or did they cross the line?"

She had a calm and collected tone. After all, she came to Jembina Hospital today because she wanted a solution, not to start a fight with Krystal.

Krystal lifted her chin a little. She and Melody were of the same height, but her heeled leather shoes gave her a height advantage over Melody, empowering her with a condescending air.

She deepened her voice, asking, "So, you want me to compensate and apologize. Is that it?"

"Don't you think you guys have the obligation to do so?" Melody questioned in return. For that issue, she wasn't just talking about Krystal. She was also referring to Dennis.

Dennis made it sound like he was pitiful and haunted by regret. The thing was, he would never have slandered Melody in this way if he were genuinely a kind-hearted person.

She didn't have the same identity as everyone else, to begin with. What was more, she had some hearing issues. It wouldn't have mattered if the accusation against her for taking up someone else's spot at Jembina Hospital was dropped.

There would still be skeptics. It would only make them think that someone powerful was indeed backing her up.

Was Dennis' confession of regret supposed to make it okay for him to undo everything she had worked for? Who gave him the right to think that way?

Needless to say, Krystal understood the subtext of Melody's question. Her expression turned grim, and her tone was icier than before.

"My dad is still in the ICU because of you. Melody, you're still a nurse at the end of the day. Where is your empathy?

"You were cyberbullied. I'll give you that, but my parents paid the price for it. Also, I can apologize and compensate you. So, why do you insist on doing things this way?"

Krsytal's gaze was as sharp as an eagle's, and there was condescending scrutiny and displeasure in her eyes.
