Melody's eyelids felt unusually heavy, and she couldn't open them no matter how much she tried. It felt like she was trapped in a nightmare.
This lasted until someone picked her up in their arms, and she managed to open her eyes after a little struggle.
That was when Jeremy's good-looking side profile came into view.
Melody was taken aback, and she tried to push him away in a panic.
Jeremy lowered his gaze to look at her. His long eyelashes hid the emotions in his eyes and cast a shadow.
He secured his hold on Melody without saying anything, but the chill radiating from him was unmistakable.
Melody's heart lurched, and she pushed his arm. "Put me down. I can walk."
Although Jeremy didn't say anything, his actions did. He didn't put her down.
She lowered her eyes and pursed her lips. "Why are you here?"
Jeremy's dark eyes clouded further, and an uncontrollable sense of rage filled him.
When he had gotten home from the Wardolfs, he had found that Melody wasn't there. He had then called her multiple times, but she hadn't answered.
He had only found out where she was when Caleb sent a screenshot of Tiffany's social media post to him.
Jeremy's voice was low, and his chest vibrated slightly while he talked. "Why didn't you answer my calls?"
Melody looked away. "I didn't hear them."
"I called you a lot of times."
Melody stopped responding, causing a flash of anger to cross Jeremy's eyes.
Clearly, Melody was lying to him.
Still carrying her, he took a step, preparing to leave.
However, someone suddenly stepped into his path.
