A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 276

Melody murmured, "I just didn't hear it."

However, she wasn't good at lying. Her long and luscious eyelashes wouldn't stop trembling, giving away her lack of confidence.

Jeremy let out a short, incredulous laugh. He gripped Melody's chin and turned her to face him while he stared straight into her eyes.

"Tell me why," he said flatly.

Her chin was starting to hurt from his grip. She instinctively frowned and tried to get away from his hand.

Jeremy's voice dropped lower. "I just want to hear your reasons. I don't like you behaving like this."

When he couldn't get in touch with Melody earlier, all sorts of possibilities flashed through his mind.

She had been going through a tough time lately, and she rarely went out.

If she came across the same thing as last time, then it could end up quite bad.

Emotions swirled in his eyes, but Melody didn't seem to notice at all. She closed her eyes and replied quietly, "Felicia returned to Jembina today, so we had dinner together. I really didn't hear your calls, that's all."

"Liar."

Jeremy's anger flared uncontrollably again when he saw how unwilling she was to tell him the truth.

He reminded her in a stern voice, "Things aren't settled yet. You'll still likely run into more radical people if you're out by yourself like this. The risks are high."

Right then, the light turned green.

Jeremy released her chin and continued driving.

Melody didn't say anything for the rest of the ride. She sat in the passenger seat with her eyes downcast, lost in thought.

This lasted until they arrived home, when she finally turned to look at Jeremy and asked slowly, "You went to the Wardolfs today, didn't you?"

Jeremy paused and, without his expression changing, answered, "I sent Krystal home."
