A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 278

Jeremy's expression turned stony the moment he heard Denvin's name.

He asked in a low voice, "Why didn't you tell me this before?"

Melody looked down, and she mimicked his nonchalance. "This is my own business. There's nothing to say."

Jeremy fell silent. He stared at Melody, murky colors swirling in his dark eyes.

He had clearly felt a burst of anger earlier, and he was well aware that it wasn't because of Denvin. It was because of Melody's indifference, as if none of this concerned him.

He stared at Melody before turning to leave.

Melody exhaled a breath of relief. She had been worried that Jeremy was going to start arguing with her. They had already fought because of Dennis many times, and it was all rather pointless and exhausting.

When Melody got to the bedroom, she let the group chat know that she had arrived home safely, then got ready for bed.

She recalled what she had said to Jeremy earlier.

She nibbled on her lip as she hesitated before sending Denvin a message.

Denvin didn't reply. Instead, she received a message from Alexis. She had transferred some money to Melody, saying it was payment from one of the magazines. It was only 15,000 dollars, and not a particularly large sum.

As Melody stared at her bank balance, she could feel a headache coming on.

She'd been saving up for so long, but she had barely made any progress. It would be a lie to say she wasn't feeling discouraged. However, more than that, she felt lost.

Melody lost sleep that entire night.

Denvin's message came through the next morning. He asked Melody to go straight to the Regallo Group.

When Melody was about to leave the house, Jeremy was getting ready to leave for the hospital, too.
