Melody instinctively raised her hand, only to realize that Denvin had once again tricked her.
She lowered her head to collect her thoughts, then looked up at him. "I came to ask you—were you serious about asking me to come work at Regallo?"
"What do you think? Do I look like I have time to joke around with you?" Denvin asked instead.
A flash of self-doubt flickered through her eyes. "But I majored in nursing. I don't know anything about corporate work."
"Who said anything about working at the company?"
Melody froze, looking confused.
Denvin tossed the folder in his hand aside and said nonchalantly, "The charity projects I promised you previously, I haven't found anyone suitable to handle them. So you've come at the perfect time."
She was a little surprised. "Charity projects?"
"Do you think I have that much time to watch over those little things for you?" He sat behind his desk and leaned back into his chair. "Regallo Group never had such a precedent before, and if it weren't for you…"
After a second, he corrected himself. "If it weren't for needing you to help with the Celestial matter, I wouldn't have agreed to it in the first place. Do you expect me to go out of my way to create a whole new department for this?"
Denvin's words made sense.
Melody nodded seriously. "I'll do my best."
Then, Denvin continued without any change in his expression. "Dennis' situation still isn't resolved, right? If you're going to start working for Regallo, then you and your image will be representing us."
She lowered her eyes, and her eyelashes hid the emotions in them. "I'll hire a lawyer."
Denvin looked at her, and there was an unreadable burden in his piercing gaze. "If you need help, you can talk to Serena Engwin. She works in our legal department."
Once things were finally settled with Dennis, Melody had assumed that it would take a few more days before she officially started working. However, Denvin immediately had his assistant take Melody through all the various onboarding processes.
And so, her trip to Regallo ended with her becoming an official employee of the company. This naturally also meant that she needed to resign from Jembina Hospital.
…
After much hesitation, she finally decided to go to the hospital. After all, it was best not to drag things out once a decision was made.
Once at the hospital, she happened to run into Tiffany, whose face was crumpled in complete exasperation.
"What's wrong?" Melody asked.
Tiffany rolled her eyes so hard they practically rolled to the back of her head.
"What else? It's our beautiful and kind Dr. Finnigan, of course."
