Once Melody explained the situation to Benson, he found it to be a pity but didn't try to persuade her to stay.
In fact, the higher-ups in the hospital already had such thoughts, so it just so happened that Melody brought it up first.
Benson sighed. "Ms. Wardolf, we're all aware that you're a diligent worker. The situation now is unexpected, but that doesn't reflect poorly on your character, so please don't feel dismayed."
After confirming the resignation process with Benson, Melody turned to leave.
However, the moment she stepped out of the office, she ran into Jeremy.
His white coat hung open, and his dark hair fell across his brows. The smell of disinfectant that clung to him was stronger than usual, so she knew that he had just finished a surgery.
"You only went to Regallo this morning, and now you're here to resign," he said as he looked at Melody.
Melody replied, "I just wanted to get things sorted out sooner rather than later. Also, I'm officially employed at Regallo now."
The words had just barely left her mouth when Jeremy stalked right up to her.
He was tall, so he almost completely blocked her view.
"This is the hallway. Don't stand so close to me," Melody reminded him.
Previously, Jeremy had always tried to minimize his interactions with her at the hospital, so she was merely reminding him of that.
To Jeremy, however, the words were especially grating.
His breath caught in his throat, and his calm, clear eyes suddenly darkened.
Melody had lost a lot of weight recently, so her already skinny face had become even thinner. Combined with those big, striking eyes of hers, she only looked more fragile.
Jeremy closed his eyes for a second. Then, he took her hand and led her into the break room.
