On Monday, Melody started her new job at Regallo.
Jeremy got dressed and followed her out the door.
She thought he was going to the hospital, so she didn't think much of it. It wasn't until he pulled the car in front of her that she finally realized what was happening.
"Get in. I'll drive you there," Jeremy instructed indifferently.
Melody frowned. "Regallo and the hospital are in opposite directions. You won't make it in time."
However, he only replied, "I took the day off. I'll pick you up after work."
She blinked. Her clear eyes stared at him, not quite understanding what he was trying to do.
He didn't say another word the entire ride to Regallo.
Only when Melody got out of the car did he say slowly, "Calista asked to meet tonight so she can get a better understanding of things and also go over some strategies."
When Jeremy mentioned that he'd pick her up later, Melody originally planned to decline. However, since they needed to meet Calista, she immediately nodded. "Alright, I'll wait for you."
Melody said goodbye to Jeremy. Then, she turned to head into the building, only to find Denvin standing at the entrance.
He raised an eyebrow, and his gaze absent-mindedly landed on Jeremy.
He said indifferently, "What are we? A daycare? You still need a parent to drop you off and pick you up at work? Should I get you a kiddie bus as well?"
Melody was a little embarrassed as she explained, "I was worried I'd be late."
"You can get up earlier if you're worried about running late."
The words had just left his mouth when Jeremy got out of the car.
The two of them had never gotten along, so Melody could feel the temperature around them drop below freezing point almost instantly.
Glancing at Melody, Jeremy asked, "Since when did Regallo have a rule against employees being dropped off by family?"
Denvin snorted. "And what kind of family are you supposed to be?"
His gaze appeared uninterested, but his slightly tilted chin showed his arrogance.
