A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 37

As they left, Seth pulled a candy from his pocket and handed it to Melody.

On the small blackboard, he wrote, "Don't be sad. Even a one percent chance is still a chance."

Melody took the candy and forced a smile, though her face remained pale.

Jeremy glanced at the candy and casually asked, "Since when did you like sweets?"

Seth replied, "Many of my young patients cry during check-ups, and a little candy always helps to cheer them up."

Jeremy simply nodded and led Melody out.

Meanwhile, a storm of unease was swirling in Melody's mind. She couldn't calm down no matter how hard she tried. She was terrified that Andrew would really stop her from going back to the hospital.

She also knew that if she wanted the surgery, she would have to save up for it herself. The Wardolf family wouldn't pay for it.

This wasn't the first time Simon had brought up the cochlear implant. In fact, he had suggested it to Andrew years ago.

However, Andrew had found an excuse to dismiss it every time.

Andrew then said to Jeremy, "Jeremy, you go ahead. I'll take Mel home later. I want to have a talk with her."

Jeremy lowered his gaze. He seemed like he was about to respond when he noticed Melody biting her lip so hard that it turned white.

She was so nervous that her body trembled.

His brows furrowed. He didn't understand why she was so scared.

Melody suddenly lifted her face after sensing his gaze. Her eyes were red-rimmed, but her expression was defiant.

Jeremy felt a small tug at his heart, like a tiny needle had pricked him.

Just as he was about to speak, Andrew's voice cut in, "Mel, I know you're upset right now. Let's go home and talk things through, okay? If you really don't want to leave the hospital, we'll see if there's another solution."

He helplessly looked up at Jeremy after saying this. He then shook his head and added, "Jeremy, I'd appreciate it if you could talk to Dr. Turner about Mel's situation. If she returns to the hospital like this, I'm afraid she'll just cause more trouble for you all."
