A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 38

As the only son of the Chesson family, Jeremy had always been treated with courtesy by Andrew.

Andrew said after a brief pause, "Jeremy, I'm sorry for the trouble. Also, regarding Dr. Turner…"

"I'll explain everything to him," Jeremy promptly replied.

Upon hearing that, Andrew finally relaxed. He then turned to Melody and softly said, "Mel has really been spoiled by us."

It wasn't until Jeremy brought her home that Melody finally felt a bit of relief.

She typed on her phone, "Thank you."

Jeremy glanced at her and simply said, "I'm heading to the hospital in a bit."

Melody's eyes widened as she looked at him.

Jeremy elaborated, "The hospital prioritizes patient care. They won't keep a medical staff member who could become a liability at any moment. If you suddenly go deaf during an emergency and delay a patient's treatment, can you take responsibility for that?"

Melody froze for a second then quickly typed, "I've never delayed a single treatment before."

Jeremy's expression remained calm, but his words were strikingly blunt. "That's because your hearing wasn't a problem before. But what if you lose your hearing in the middle of surgery? Should they save the patient first, or you?"

Melody was stunned. She had no answer.

But when she met Jeremy's gaze, she snapped out of it and typed, "I won't assist in surgeries."

Jeremy glanced down at her and asked, "Why are you so determined to work at the hospital?"

Melody's fingers tightened around her phone, and her heart skipped a beat. It took her a moment before she slowly typed, "Because I need to save up money."

She needed money for the surgery. She wanted to live like a normal person.

Jeremy hadn't expected that answer. Just then, a flicker of understanding crossed his composed face.

However, it didn't really matter in the end.
