Melody's words were in direct rebuttal to what Jeremy had said earlier. He was staring at her when his gaze suddenly froze. Out of nowhere, a peculiar feeling rose in his chest, making him mildly annoyed and nervous.
At the sight of him remaining silent, she lowered her gaze and led Tiffany away.
With a sigh, Tiffany said, "Mel, you should've grown a spine. Krystal is always on her high horse, thinking that she's the best.
"Good grief. Nurses and doctors are equals. It's not like she's my superior. What a pain in the butt."
"Don't clash with her," came Melody's response. "Just stay away from her if you have to."
Krystal was the apple of Andrew and Laura's eyes. Denvin might've returned, but they didn't neglect to ask him to pull some strings to help Krystal's medical career. If they learned that someone was targeting Krystal in the hospital, they would resort to anything necessary to back her up.
The last thing Melody wanted was for Tiffany to be in their crosshair. Tiffany was from an ordinary family, which would make her an easy target for Andrew.
Tiffany responded, "Oh, okay."
At the very least, Melody had resolved a huge case, which made her feel infinitely better. So, during her lunch, she gave Felicia a call.
Felicia answered swiftly, "How did the case with Tessa go?"
"Mr. Turner reported it to the hospital authorities," came Melody's revelation. "They called the police."
"I got the news as well," Felicia responded. "Tessa's assistant personally contacted us. Looks like the update will be trending tonight.
"I have a question, though. How did the cleaning staff gain access to Tessa's medical history? Didn't you mention that Jeremy usually takes good care of his belongings? How was it possible for her to take pictures of Tessa's medical history even without the power?"
Melody hadn't figured this out as well, but she didn't want to ask Jeremy about it.
This question had already been raised earlier in the afternoon. If Felicia was able to notice the loophole, it was a given that the police officers could too.
"We're at work. It's better to address each other formally."
Harold was puzzled. "Huh?"
Without explaining himself, Jeremy left the doctor's office.
…
Melody's ears ached again. She had to go to the toilet to take the hearing aids off and give herself five minutes before she returned to work again.
Simon was right. She had to undergo the surgery as soon as possible.
Nowadays, Melody would head over to Alexis' studio for a photography session weekly. A set of pictures would net her 500 dollars. As she only had enough time for three sets during the weekend, it meant that she could make only 15,000 dollars in total.
