Chapter 61: Misunderstanding 

“What do you want? Hitting a woman–are you even a real 

man?” 

Candy rushed forward to protect Chloe. 

She was worried Candy might get into trouble, so she quickly intervened. “I’m fine. Candy, this is between him and me.” 

Chloe stood tall, eyes locked on Michael. Gone was the old meekness; in its place, fearless resolve. 

Since he already knows, there’s no need for her to hide it 

anymore. 

Chloe lifted her head and met his gaze.

“So what if it’s me? You’ve already figured it out, haven’t you?” 

She never expected to be exposed so soon and had no idea if it would bring unforeseen trouble her way. 

Chloe’s couldn’t–care–less attitude clearly pushed Michael over the edge. 

“Chloe, you’re my wife. How could you team up with an outsider against me? How much did Jioleek pay you to sneak into my company and steal that USB flash drive?”

Hearing his words, Chloe froze for a moment. 

What do you mean? 

So… he still doesn’t know she’s Jioleek? 

Chloe pondered. 

This caught her off guard. Perfect timing, she didn’t want to reveal herself just yet.

“Yeah, I pulled your USB flash drive. Never even heard of Jioleek. I did it because it seemed important to you, and you practically forced me to!” 

Candy watched as the situation turned around and couldn’t help. but admire Chloe’s quick thinking. She was truly impressive. 

Hearing this, Michael’s grip on her wrist loosened slightly, confusion written all over his face. 

“What do you mean?” 

“What do I mean? Ask yourself. You knew my mom needed that special medicine from overseas, yet you gave it to Lucy. Did you even think about me when you did that?”

It was Lucy who mentioned her mom, Tiffany, had been

struggling with insomnia. That’s why he agreed to give her the meds. He had no idea Lucy had taken Wendy’s spot! 

For a moment, Michael felt a pang of guilt, but it was quickly. drowned out by a surge of other emotions. 

“If you need that potion, just ask me directly!” 

If she asked, would he really say no? 

Chloe smirked, “You think you’ll just hand over that potion if I ask nicely?” 

“Absolutely!” 

His response was so quick, Chloe almost believed him for a split second. 

“What if both Lucy and I need this medicine? Would you still give it to me without hesitation?” 

“You probably just think I’m being petty, trying to compete with Lucy, right? When have you ever believed me?” 

Chloe knew Michael would be torn between her and Lucy, so she gave up long ago. 

But her heart ached uncontrollably.
