Chapter 9 Displeasure 

As Michael pulled her closer with his strong hand, she found herself enveloped in his familiar scent. 

Trembling, she wanted to get his hand off her.

However, the next second, Michael leaned closer and whispered in her ear, “Grandpa’s here. Do you want him to know that we’re not getting along?” 

The car slowly stopped, and Admas got out. 

His hair had already turned grey, but his gaze was incredibly kind. 

“Grandpa!” 

“Hello.” Admas looked at Michael and Chloe happily. He was happy seeing them get along so well. 

“Michael, I came to bring Chloe some medicine.” 

With that, Admas instructed the driver to take out the insulated bag. 

Chloe took the medicine, but Admas frowned deeply. 

He glanced over at Michael, who was on the side, and scolded, “Chloe will catch a cold dressed like that. Why didn’t you tell her

that? She’s your wife. Take good care of her. If you don’t, who 

will?” 

Michael replied, “Got it, Grandpa. I am taking care of her!” 

Then, as if afraid Admas wouldn’t believe him, Michael tightened his hold on Chloe and gave her a light peck on the cheek. 

He looked deeply affectionate under the light.

Chloe couldn’t help but find it extremely ironic. Yet, she had no choice but to act along, and.her smile also became increasingly stiff. 

“Admas, would you like to come in and sit for a bit?” Chloe offered. 

Admas waved his hand. “No, thanks. I just came to check on you. By the way, remember to go for the family dinner next week.” 

Chloe was a bit surprised. 

After some calculation, she realized the family dinner for the Shawns was indeed coming up, but with everything that had happened lately, it slipped her mind. 

Normally, she wouldn’t mind joining them for dinner. But now that her relationship with Michael worsened, Chloe didn’t feel like going to the dinner.

But before Chloe could finish speaking, Michael interrupted, “Don’t worry, Grandpa. I’ll bring Chloe home on time that day.” 

Satisfied with the answer, Admas didn’t stay long and instructed. the driver to leave. 

Meanwhile, Chloe felt a weight settle in her chest. 

As the car’s taillights disappeared from their sight, she immediately broke free from Michael’s hold. After that, she jabbed her elbow hard into his waist. 

Michael, though composed, couldn’t help but gasp in surprise after the blow. 

Seeing this, Chloe was instantly in a better mood. 

Holding the insulated container, she said calmly, “I won’t be going to the family dinner. You better make up an excuse yourself. Also, sign the divorce papers when you have time. I’ll send someone to pick them up. If you keep stalling it, I’ll see you at court!” 

Clutching his waist, Michael snapped, “Chloe Nelson!” 

Having known him for so many years, Chloe knew all too well when he was happy or mad. 

In the past, whenever Michael said to her with that tone, she would know he was mad and immediately give in.

But now, she no longer cared about his feelings. Ile didn’t love her or care about her, so, why should she? 

At the thought, Chloe stated firmly, “Michael, you and I will get divorced no matter what!” 

With that, she turned and walked toward the taxi parked not far 

away. 

As Chloe disappeared from his sight, Michael was annoyed. 

This time, Chloe indeed sounded more resolute, making him suspect she was serious about the divorce. 

Still, on second thought, he found it unbelievable. 

After all, back then, she went through so much trouble to get his Grandpa’s approval and made him marry her. 

Over the years, Chloe had caused many fusses, and Michael forgave her for his grandpa’s sake. 

Yet, this time, she had gone too far. And he wanted her to apologize for it. 

Storms brewed in his eyes as he thought of it. Michael then took out his phone and called his secretary. 

“Avery, put the Apricot Manor up for sale!” 

Michael angrily pondered, “I’ll wait for her to come and beg for

Three days later, Michael still hadn’t signed the divorce agreement and sent it to Chloe. 

When Chloe learned that Apricot Manor was put up for sale online, she was furious. 

“Damn it! Michael, you son of a bitch! We’ve been together for years and you won’t even give me 36 million dollars as a breakup fee! You are so stingy!” She cursed under her breath. 

She then called Michael a dozen times, but she couldn’t reach 

him. 

A long while later, she called him again. 

This time, a woman answered the call. 

As soon as she heard the voice, Chloe knew it was Lucy. 

She mocked Michael secretly.

In her eyes, he was really head over heels for Lucy, still dating her at such late hours. 

Chloe didn’t bother to talk to Lucy and got straight to the point. “Put Michael on the phone.” 

Michael soon took the phone. 

“What’s up?” He said coldly and confidently, sounding as if he

was sure Chloe would give in. 

Chloe trembled upon hearing his cold voice, and she held the phone tightly. 

“Tell me what it takes to make you cancel the sale of Apricot 

Manor.”

After a moment of silence, Michael replied, “Come to the family. dinner with me tomorrow.” 

Then he hung up the phone. 

Before he hung up, Chloe heard Lucy call him sweetly. 

Chloe had called him that way before. Yet, he told her with a long face that he didn’t like it and asked her not to call him that again. 

After that, she acted carefully in front of him. 

So, only Lucy could call him intimately, right? 

Chloe sat on the sofa in a daze. When she turned around, she saw Candy looking at her indifferently. 

She gave Candy a wry smile. 

“It seems that Michael and I won’t divorce for the time being.” 

Candy said with a frown, “Cry if you want to. Don’t force a smile. It’s creepy. You know what? I’ll hire a hitman to kill him.”
