Chapter 0166
Lionel answered, “Let me discuss this with Mindy first…
“Discuss?” Anna’s tone grew stern. “What’s there to discuss? Aren’t you the man of the household? Do you need to consult your wife on such a simple matter before making a decision?”
“Mom, this isn’t about being the head of the household. No matter what, I should at least inform Mindy. It’s about basic respect…”
“Spineless coward! Go ahead and discuss it. If she agrees, great. If not, it doesn’t matter. Regardless, we’re coming over tomorrow!”
With that, Anna hung up with a loud bang.
Lionel could only sigh
Mindy came in from the yard and saw her husband scratching his head. “What’s wrong? Who was that?” “It was Mom.”
“What did she say?”
“She said they’re coming over tomorrow for a housewarming party and to celebrate the New Year…” “It’s alright.” Mindy replied with a smile, “Let’s invite Leonard, Harold, Cynthia, and their families as well.”
Early the next morning, Mindy went to the market to get groceries. By 4:00 pm, everyone had arrived. After Jenny entered, she felt increasingly bitter as she looked around the villa. She had known for a while that Lionel’s family was going to move into a villa–a luxurious one at that. However, seeing it in person hit her harder than she had anticipated.
was strangely
Jenny was usually the most talkative and boastful person in the room, but this time, she was silent as she surveyed the place.
It wasn’t until Harold nudged her that Jenny managed to squeeze out a sentence, “Congratulations, Lionel, Mindy.”
Quincey came along today as well. She turned to Mindy, “Aunt Mindy, can I take a look around?”
“Of course.”
“We’re family, no need to be so formal.”
At that point, they exchanged shocked and bewildered glances.
