Everyone immediately rushed upstairs. They followed the noise and came to Miranda’s bedroom. What greeted them was a chaotic scene.
Quincey was sitting on the floor with two luxury bags scattered nearby. After seeing everyone barge in, she burst into loud sobs and started kicking wildly like a spoiled child.
Jenny rushed over to her. “Quincey, what’s wrong? Don’t scare me. Come on, let’s get to your feet…”
“I won’t! I won’t get up unless Miranda apologizes to me!” Quincey screamed.
Miranda sneered, “Fine, then stay on the floor. You can lie down too if you like.”
“You-
Jenny’s eyes narrowed. “Apologize for what? Tell me, what happened?”
“Mom, Miranda hit me!”
“What?” Jenny’s eyes widened as she turned to Miranda. “How could you hit her?”
Miranda answered, “Aunt Jenny, I’m really sorry. I heard noise coming from my closet when I returned to my room. I thought a thief had broken in, so… But I’d like to ask, why was Quincey in my room? Moreover, she seemed to be rummaging through my belongings?”
As she spoke, her gaze glanced over to the two bags on the floor.
Jenny’s expression changed drastically. “I see.. Quincey must have been curious and decided to look through your things, but you still shouldn’t have hit her!
“I didn’t know it was Quincey when I hit her. I genuinely thought it was a thief. After all, what normal person would go rummaging through someone else’s belongings during a visit?”
Jenny shot a sharp glare at her daughter. Quincey didn’t dare meet Jenny’s gaze and bit her lips, feeling guilty.
Mindy smiled and tried to smooth things over. “Since it’s all a misunderstanding, things are fine now that it’s cleared up. Shall we go down to the living room and get ready to eat?”
Just then, a phone started ringing.
Lionel was nearer to her phone, so Miranda said, “Dad, could you grab that for me?”
“Sure.” However, Lionel accidentally answered the call when he picked up the phone. The call went on speaker, and everyone could hear the caller from the other end.
Winter’s voice was bright and clear as she spoke, “Mim), have you checked yet? What’s your score? Is it enough to get into Bedford College?”
Everyone was stunned.
“Mimi? Why aren’t you saying anything? Can you hear me? Hello? Hello!”
