Chapter 0205
“Take a look, did I calculate this correctly?” Elizabeth asked.
Sandy reviewed the data carefully and nodded. “It seems fine now.”
Yet Silas, with his seasoned experience, spotted the discrepancy right away. “These two values still don’t
match.”
“In the seventh row, both values are incorrect. It’s not 50 and 71; it should be 50.2 and… 70.88,” said
Miranda.
As Miranda passed by and glanced at the long list of data, she immediately noticed the errors in the only two values at the seventh node.
In the lab, Silas, Sandy, Bryan, and Elizabeth usually maintained a polite distance from Miranda. It wasn’t outright exclusion, but they certainly weren’t close friends.
Even with Sandy’s friendliness and Silas‘ accommodating nature, the natural distance between them and Miranda wasn’t something a few conversations or shared meals could easily bridge.
It stemmed from differences in education, status, age, and the time they had known each other. Their rapport with Bryan and Elizabeth was distinctly different from how they treated Miranda.
Hearing her comment now, the four exchanged skeptical looks, each seeing doubt in the others‘ eyes.
Elizabeth, in particular, couldn’t help but sneer visibly.
Silas, being the most experienced among them and the best at quick calculations, hadn’t spotted the error that Miranda had identified so easily. Yet she thought she could?
Concerned that Miranda might be trying to draw attention to herself, Sandy kindly offered her a way out. Miranda, Bryan has been working on this data set for a while. The first version was completed long ago, and we’ve all cross–checked it.
“Now you’re saying now that there’s an issue with the original data at the node? That seems… unlikely.
Silas nodded. “Both Paul and I have verified it; there were no errors.”
Elizabeth scoffed loudly. “Some people just can’t help but pretend they know everything, huh? If you don’t know, don’t speak. It’s easy to say whatever you want when it’s just talk. How ridiculous!”
Miranda frowned. “If you don’t believe me, you can verify-”
“Verify what?” Elizabeth cut her off abruptly. “We’re not even working on the same research. Bioinformatics and physics are worlds apart. Perhaps you’ve never heard the saying ‘specialization in each field?
*Dr. Jefferson already made an exception by letting you use the lab for your bioinformatics research. We’re discussing a physics problem here–why are you butting in? Trying to prove how capable and impressive you are?
“Winning gold medals in four Olympiad subjects back in high school doesn you’re now an expert in all four disciplines. Each field is further divided into different research directions. Do you really think you know everything and can chime in on anything?

“This isn’t high school, nor is it a competition setting. Problem–solving and research are not on the same level! One must be responsible for every word they say, If you don’t know, it’s better to stay silent than to spout nonsense.”
