They wouldn’t hesitate to hurt Kira if they knew she was Gideon’s weakness.
It was better for them to meet again like this.
His most painful and bloodthirsty years were behind him now.
He had complete control of the family.
He had money, power, status.
He could protect her.
They could live under the same roof again.
Just like old times.
‘Could you forgive me?” He looked at Kira beseechingly. ‘Could you forgive me for leaving without saying goodbye?‘
Kira stared at him fixedly.
He couldn’t read the emotions in her eyes.
Kira looked away after a long minute.
“We can talk about this later. You should get some rest.‘
“Will you stay with me?‘
She nodded. ‘I’m not going anywhere.‘
Gideon knew he was asking for too much,
Kira needed some time to think it through.
But she was such a kind and understanding girl.
Surely, she would forgive him eventually.
Gideon would have wanted to keep looking at her, but his eyelids grew heavy,
The anaesthesia had worn off, but the doctors had given him pain meds which made him
drowsy.
Gradually, Gideon drifted off.
Kira stared at his face, so peaceful in sleep.
He was twenty years old when he left, technically an adult, but he still retained the mischievous air of a boy.
Now he was truly grown up.
His face was more angular.
There was a steely glint in his eyes.
He had not mentioned what happened after he returned to the Garner family, but it couldn’t have been easy for him to wrest control from the other men who were older and willer than
him.
He must have gone through a baptism of fire and emerged stronger.
When Gideon asked if she could forgive him, she had not replied because she didn’t know the
answer.
Now she posed the same question to herself.
Kira thought about what he said and tried to imagine how she would react if she were in his
shoes.
She realised she didn’t hate him.
She could never hate someone who prioritised their family above everything else.
Because she was like that.
Family was everything to her.
If Doctor House called her right now and told her her father had passed away, Kira wasn’t sure she’d want to continue living.
So Kira decided that she could forgive Gideon.
Not for cheating on her, but for leaving without saying goodbye.
She would forgive him and put it behind her.
Her only regret was not having him by her side when Dad had the car accident.
She was alone and helpless and desperate.
If Gideon hadn’t left, she probably wouldn’t have married Austyn…

Gwend Just A Friend
Gideon had not let go of Kira’s hand while he was sleeping.
He was relieved when he woke up and saw her face.
She was napping in the chair, head lolling to one side.
She’d kept her word.
Gideon smiled.
He traced her cheek with a finger.
Kira had grown from an adorable girl into a lovely woman.
She was stunning even in a simple t–shirt and jeans.
His action woke her up.
Kira opened her eyes, yawned, and sat up straight
‘Do you need anything? I’ll go get the doctor.”
‘No, I’m fine.‘ Gideon stopped her. ‘I just want to be alone with you.‘
Kira tried to get up from the chair.
Gideon refused to let go of her hand. ‘Don’t leave
She sighed. ‘I just want to stretch. The chair is hard. My back’s killing me. My legs are numb.
‘Sorry.‘ Gideon loosened his grip.
Kira got up.
She rotated her shoulders and walked around the room for a bit.
Then she opened the door.
Martin snapped to attention.
Kira glanced up and down the hallway. ‘Where’s Miss Reyes?”
