Anya’s POV:
Buzz… buzz…
As I was sleeping, my phone suddenly rang.
I picked up my phone on the bedside table. It was Kester!
“Jester? What are you calling me for this hour?”
On the other end, the line Kester’s worried voice replied, “Anya, have you seen the news?”
“What news?” I rubbed my eyes, confused.
“Check on your cellphone and read the entertainment news!”
Hearing that my heart skipped a beat as I had a very bad feeling about this.
I still remember how badly I had been roasted six years ago. Back then, I was still that innocent girl, and even thought about jumping off the roof to end my life. I prayed that it would not happen to me ever again.
I shivered and unlocked my phone. And in an instant, more than five notifications popped up. And they were all about me.
“After hooking up with her brother-in-law and getting kicked out, Anya Walter has moved to her next victim!”
“The former lady of X city fell out with her family for inheritance. Her father was kicked out of the board, and she seized the family business.”
“Anya Walter unwed yet pregnant. The father is unknown…”
It’s just a night, but news about me was all over the Internet.
I clicked one of them open with a trembling finger, as I feared the comments below were unbearable!
It was just like what happened six years ago had taken place again! The only difference was that this time it appeared to be even more fierce.
“Hello? Anya, are you still there?” Kester’s worried voice comes from the other end of the line.
However, I just looked at the comments, feeling happiness and joy sucked out for me at once. People even bought up my fake news six years ago.
I didn’t dare to scroll down anymore.
“Anya, you wait there. I’m coming to you!”
“Kest…”
“Listen to me, Anya! Pull yourself together. Don’t be afraid. Wait for me!” Caster said, and I could hear his hurried footsteps.
I didn’t say anything and just hung up the phone.
Then, from the bedside drawer, I took out two bottles of pills with my trembling hands. They were antidepressants.
Silently, I poured several pills out and swallowed them all at once.
I had been suffering from severe depression.
At first, I merely had to take one or two antidepressants once a day. Then slowly, it became five, and now sometimes I had to take more than a dozen of them finally to calm myself down.
Kester’s POV:
“Anya? Hello? Anya?” I was yelling and anxiously at my phone. However, what I got in reply was a beeping sound.
